Soggy Cornflakes

I'd just started to eat my breakfast.

A minute or so later the phone rang.

Alaine approached with our cordless receiver.

To be perfectly honest, I was a little irritated.  If I took the call, my cornflakes would quickly become soggy.

I shook my head no.

Alaine told the person on the other line that I'd get back to her.

The caller was an old friend, Flo.  She wondered if I could take her to an appointment with her cancer doctor.

I couldn't help but think about the words of Mark 6:

The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.  Then, because so many people were coming and going that they didn't even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
