Why Did They Do It?

As I type this, the temperature in St. Paul is -21.  That's not the wind chill, mind you, but the actual air temperature.

-21 is cold, even by Minnesota standards.  Our high today may only reach -17. This would be an all-time record for January 6.

Yesterday the temperature was just above zero in Green Bay.  Still, some 72,000 fans flocked to Lambeau Field.

The question is:  Why would anyone sit outside in such weather to watch a football game?

The answer is simple.  They love the Packers.

Given the polar weather we are currently experiencing, I wasn't expecting a big crowd in worship yesterday.  As a matter of fact, Wayne M., who helps me set up on Sunday mornings, and I gave our best estimates.  Wayne thought that the attendance would be in the 20s.  I was more optimistic, guessing we would be in the 30s.  Both of us were way off.  By one count, our attendance was 68.

Why would 68 people go out on a bitterly cold morning to come to church?

The answer is simple.  They love their Lord.
