the Gift of NO

What is the most unusual gift you have ever received?

What comes to mind?

Do you still have the gift?

Have you ever given someone a special gift, one that you put a lot of time and effort into securing?

Have you ever given someone a special gift, only to discover it later tucked away in a closet or stored in a basement?

We are just a few days away from Christmas.  It's time to think about a very unusual gift God has given to His people.

The apostle Paul writes about the unusual gift that God has given to each of us.  Here is what he had to say:

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people.  It teaches us to say 'NO' to all ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people who are His very own, eager to do what is good"  (Titus 2:11-14).

How will we use God's gift of NO?

Where in our lives do we need to make better use of this gift?
